Fall Maintenance & Safety Tips for your Comfort System

As we wind down our cooling season, it's time to set our thoughts on the upcoming winter, and your Heating System.
Here are several important maintenance items that we provide for you during our fall maintenance. 1. Clean the condensate trap, and treat the trap & lines with an enzyme solution. This assures that come next spring, when you turn your AC back on, that you will not have a water leak, or a unit shut down due to a condensate drain back-up. 2. Assure the evaporator coil and filter is clean. 3. Assure there are no duct leaks that could significantly effect your systems performance. 4. Check the refrigerant levels. 5. Test the heat functions to assure all aspects of the system are operating properly. 6. For gas furnaces, we test your gas pressure, check your fuel supply, test flue piping, and much more. (If you do not have a Carbon Monoxide detector/Gas detector combination installed, we highly recommend getting this installed before you operate your gas furnace this season.) 7. Check your electrical connections, and compressor starting items. Worn items can cause compressor failure. This is also a good time to change your smoke detector batteries, assure fire extinguishers exist in proper locations, and again, if you have any natural gas or propane appliances, get yourself a Carbon Monoxide detector. They make a dual Carbon Monoxide and Gas Detector. You may need more than one, depending upon the layout of your home. That's all for now. Enjoy this great weather!
